These terms govern every purchase from Novellum. Novellum is a trading name of Carbon Disclosure SA (Pty) Ltd (registered name per CIPC), registration 2009/023392/07, VAT 4490321819, of 5 Bethanie Street, Sonstraal, Durbanville, 7550, South Africa ("we", "us"). "You" are the person placing the order. By paying for a book you accept these terms. Support: support@novellumbooks.com.
Each order is a made-to-order work of fiction, written by our AI systems under human oversight, from the choices and brief you give us: up to two genres, a hero name, an optional plot brief and a length tier. You receive digital files only (EPUB and PDF), delivered by email. There is no printed product.
You see a preview of page one before you pay. What you buy is the full book generated from the same inputs; beyond that preview, each book is produced fresh and no two are identical. Reasonable variation between the preview and the final text is part of the product, not a defect.
You must be 18 or older to order. If you are younger, a parent or guardian must place the order for you or assist you in placing it, and the guardian accepts these terms.
You promise that your brief and hero names:
Your order is an offer. The contract forms when payment succeeds after you have seen the preview. We may decline any order before generation and refund it in full. If we decline after payment, the refund is our only obligation.
Prices are shown before you pay, in US dollars, tax-inclusive where the law requires. Checkout and payment run through our merchant of record — Dodo Payments (or, if we switch providers, Paddle; the checkout page always names the current one). We never see or store your card details.
We aim to deliver your book by email within about two hours of payment, and in any event within 24 hours. Download links remain live for at least 90 days.
Because every book is personalised and made to order, statutory cooling-off rights generally do not apply once generation has begun. EU/UK buyers expressly consent to this at checkout (Annex A1).
If, within 14 days of delivery, your book materially fails your brief or is otherwise defective, choose a free re-generation from the same brief, or a full refund.
On payment we grant you a lifelong, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to read and enjoy your book privately, including one gift to another person.
Yours to read, ours to publish: your book is licensed to you for personal reading and one gift. Publishing, adaptation (film, TV, stage, audio, translation, games), sequels/spin-offs, merchandising and every other commercial right stay with Novellum, worldwide and in perpetuity.
Every Novellum book is generated by AI under human oversight, and says so: a colophon appears in every copy, and the files carry machine-readable markings identifying the text as AI-generated, per Article 50 of the EU AI Act.
We process personal information under POPIA and, where it applies, the GDPR. Full policy: novellumbooks.com/privacy.
Nothing here excludes liability we cannot lawfully exclude. Subject to that, our total liability for an order is limited to the price you paid for it.
South African law governs these terms; consumers elsewhere keep any mandatory local protections.
"Yours to read, ours to publish: your book is licensed to you for personal reading and one gift. Publishing, film and audio adaptation, and every other commercial right stay with Novellum. Read the licence."
