A Valentine's book starring us: our love story, as a novel

Roses, a card, a dinner reservation. All lovely, all expected. This Valentine's Day, give them a novel where the two of you are the couple everyone is rooting for.

Start our Valentine's book

Every couple has a story they tell at parties: the bad first date, the borrowed sweater, the missed train that turned into a whole weekend. Most of those stories never get written down.

A Novellum book turns yours into a novel. Tell us how you met, where you live, the pet, the in-jokes and the trip you still talk about. Pick romance and one other genre (comedy for a couple who laugh at everything, adventure for the ones who travel, mystery for the true-crime podcast fans) and we write the two of you into a whole book.

Valentine's Day falls on Sunday, 14 February 2027. Choose the date, add your message, and the card lands in their inbox that day. It costs from $2.99, and with the narrated audiobook it becomes something to listen to together on a long drive.

A real page one

This is how one of our books begins. The brief: Priya Shah and Daniel Brooks met in a Chicago laundromat when he took home her favorite red sweater; five years later, with a cat called Biscuit, Daniel plans a Valentine's surprise that goes wrong in the funniest way, told from Priya's side (romance and comedy). The hero is invented.

The buzzer on the laundry room door tinkled like a tiny, optimistic bell and Biscuit hissed as if warning the building to mind its manners. I balanced a stack of folded jeans against my hip and tried not to smile at the memory of how we had met. Daniel had once walked out of a laundromat with my red sweater on like it belonged to him. He said it made him look like a rogue librarian. I told him librarians did not look like that and then agreed to coffee because the sweater had smelled like fabric softener and possibility.

A real opening Novellum wrote for an example brief, quoted unedited. Your book starts from your brief, and you read its page one free before you pay.

How it works

  1. Pick up to two genres and name the hero.
  2. Tell us the story in your own words: names, places, the details only you know. Then read page one free, with no account and no card.
  3. Tick "This is a gift" and add their name and email, your message and the day it should arrive.
  4. We write the whole book, usually in about two hours, and hold it until the day. Then they get your card and their book as an EPUB and a PDF.
